January 2015:
My good friend Quentin and his family
spontaneously invite me and our mutual friend Serdar on a trip to Morocco.
Without really knowing where to go, what to expect and how we will spend our time there,
I intuitively decide to come along.

In my luggage I have an HD Sony camcorder, a set of lenses and four memory cards.

We spend three weeks in a small village near Essaouira called Sidi Kouki.
From there, we discover the region around the city.

Without any real plan, without time pressure
and with a naïve joy of discovery
 doors get open for us
that we have only read about in books,
seen in films and heard about from acquaintances.

Magical places, a decelerated life and the hospitality of the local people
captivate me and my companions.

I am 19 years old and have never visited the African continent before,
nor could I ever imagine what the fabled deserts, coasts and cities of this country really look like.

My desire to somehow capture our feelings and impressions
lead me to take my camera everywhere
and soon become known as "the Cameraman" to the locals.

People forget that I am recording them and trust the three of us
- that's what this short documentary is about.
